ELECTROMAGNETIC FREQUENCIES

Electric fields are created by differences in voltage: the higher the voltage, the stronger will be the resultant field. Magnetic fields are created when the electric current flows: the greater the current, the stronger the magnetic field. An electric field will exist even when there is no current flowing. If current does flow, the strength of the magnetic field will vary with power consumption, but the electric field will be constant.

How do we test for electromagnetic frequencies?
There are many different tools available to test for electromagnetic frequencies. As part of a Building Biology Survey for a house or property, alternating electric fields are measured with sensitive electric field probes and ELF antennas. Walls, devices and cables live with electricity can be detected.

AC magnetic fields are measured with sensitive magnetic field instruments. The field strength of such sources as high-voltage power lines, computer monitors, electric equipment, cables, transformers, breaker panels and metal piping can be measured.

Body voltage measurements demonstrate how the potential field exposure relates to a specific person, responding to even the smallest electric field levels. The measurements are taken with ground reference. A highly sensitive digital voltmeter is used.

How do electromagnetic frequencies affect us?
Alternating electric and magnetic fields both induce currents within the human body and also cause nerve stimulation. Low-level, alternating electric and magnetic fields were found to be correlelated with the incidence and course of cancer diseases. Numerous studies point toward biological effects of alternating electric and magnetic fields with specific characteristics at low exposure levels:

*suppression of melatonin production in pineal gland *impact on calcium metabolism of cells *impact on heart beat *impact on immune system *change of enzyme activity in cells and *change in cell division and DNA synthesis

What can we do to protect ourselves?
Have your home or office tested by a professional building biologist. Follow recommendations given to improve the health of your home. Create a sanctuary in your bedroom, so your body can heal while you sleep. To accomplish this, eliminate or reduce all electromagnetic frequencies in your bedroom.

There are products available that will help counteract the effects of the electromagnetic frequencies. Click on the link below to find out more information.
